28 th February - Rare Disease Day
The Rare Disease Day is celebrated annually on February 28 or 29 in seventy countries around the world with the aim of sensitizing the population, public health organs, physicians and health experts to the types of rare diseases that exist and all the difficulties that their patients face to achieve a treatment or cure.
According to data from the World Health Organization and Eurordis (European Organization of Rare Diseases), rare diseases are classified according to four main factors: incidence, rarity, severity and diversity. It is estimated that about 8% of the world population has some kind of rare disease.
This year's theme is " Bridging health and social care" and aims to raise awareness of the importance of improving existing services to improve the day-to-day lives of people living with these diseases and to minimize the impact on their activities. Living with a rare disease often means leaving work or school, performing the necessary treatments, or relying on a full-time caregiver.
At Elnor Pharma, we seek to keep abreast of the latest advances in healthcare and to always have quality, certified medicines and hospital equipment available to provide a better quality of life for people with rare diseases.
